Real World Skills Tailored Learning Growing Character
Is Your Child's Education
Setting Them Up For Success?
Young people need to learn the right things to help them fulfill their dreams.
At Wildflower Academy, our mission is empowering Pre-K - 5 students to live
meaningful lives, by providing an environment where they discover their unique
strengths, learn real world skills, and grow good character. Our children get one
shot at their education, and they need to learn what maters most.
What We Focus On
It's About People
Character Is Destiny
Solve Big Problems
Get Back Up
We Have What It Takes
The quality of your relationships determines the quality of your life. We focus on developing real friendships, a sense of personal accountability, and standing strong in your convictions even as you respect others around you.
Character really matters. The right skillset combined with character is a recipe for long-
term success. Skills without character is a recipe for disaster. That’s why we believe in
developing meaningful skills AND character.
Don’t think small. There are countless big problems in the world, and we need people of
vision and courage willing to tackle them. We encourage big dreams and big vision, and
teach the skills to accomplish those dreams.
Be gritty. Everybody fails sometimes, but the determined person who gets back up and tried again (and again) is the person who succeeds in their ambitions . It's OK to fall. Get back up and try again.
We’re better together. We appreciate the perspective of others and realize that we are
stronger as a team and community. We teach students to lead by listening and loving
our neighbor, so that now and forever, they can work together with the person beside
them.

Learn
to
Do
We believe students learn best by doing. Whether it's launching a startup business, creating a tidepool habitat, or programming a robot, Wildflower students are building real-life skills in the classroom every day. Our learners investigate, participate, and contribute to the world around them by taking on meaningful, hands-on projects.

Learn
Learn
to
Be
We guide our students to develop personal virtues such as honesty, hard work, responsibility, kindness, and empathy. Whether it's suggesting new rules in Town Hall meetings or holding a friend accountable during group work, students are constantly exercising and honing life skills.
Each day, our students cultivate critical thinking and decision-making skills through Socratic discussions and individual reflection time. As they "learn to learn," they understand the importance of asking good questions, taking risks, and remaining curious about the world around them.

"This truly is a school like no other. In one year of attending Wildflower, my daughter has grown tremendously, not only academically, but in character, emotional intelligence, social skills, leadership...I could go on. Would definitely recommend Wildflower to anyone who wants the very best education for their children, not only in academics, but in life."

JESSICA G.
"Wildflower is the transformative experience our family has been looking for. A non-traditional schooling experience that emphasized interpersonal development alongside academic skills, Wildflower has offered our children a chance to love school again and we have discovered a community of families who share our value of growing resilient, capable young people."

3 Ways Learning Is Different Here
It's Student Centered
We empower kids to own their learning. No homework here. Instead, we help students set goals, manage their time, and work at their own pace on core subjects, while engaging in hands-on projects in science, art, and technology. This is authentic learning, not focused on passing tests or memorizing facts.
Focused On The Real World
We believe students learn by doing. Whether it's
launching a startup business, playing an instrument, or programing a robot in their summer apprenticeship, our students are building real world skills every day. paving the
way for them to succeed in the future.
Guided, Not Taught
Learning should reflect the unique personality and interest of the learner. Instead of boing lectures, our Guides lead small groups, helping them set goals and discover their own learning path.with small groups, caring adults, and lots of freedom, kids are empowered to learn.

Why did we start a school?

As a Mom, I always knew I wanted a different education for my children. I loved educating my kids in unique ways, allowing them to flourish without the unneeded pressure traditional schools encouraged. Then one day, while struggling to piece together some curriculum, I felt homeschooling was still missing some critical aspects.
The question that plagued me was whether a traditional school or even homeschooling was the best education for my children. After trying a variety of education options, it seemed that the education I’d been dreaming of was nowhere to be found. In my heart, I believed there had to be a better way! I didn’t want to settle for just ok – I wanted excellence. It was as if a blurry vision and determination to offer my kids the best education had suddenly become crystal clear.
That is when I found Acton Academy, a nonprofit foundation that helps parents open schools worldwide. Acton co-founders Jeff and Laura Sandefer opened the first Acton in Austin, Texas, in 2008 to create a more robust education for their two sons. They have taken their best practices and learning philosophies and are helping other like-minded families open schools worldwide. If you are ready to reinvent education for your family, I encourage you to give me a call or schedule a school tour. I look forward to meeting your family.

Learning at Wildflower: An Acton Academy
Student Driven Learning
Students conquer the foundations of reading, writing, and math using the latest in educational technology for self-paced mastery.

Example:
Rather than one-size-fits-all learning
Our students work at their own pace and often above their "grade level."
Socratic Discussions
Students will learn to think critically and independently while diving deep into discussions to uncover multiple perspectives with peers.

Example:
Rather than accepting traditional routines -
Our Students challenge each other, ask questions, and provide suggestions to improve their learning experience.
Project Based Learning
Students participate in Quests to acquire hands-on experience to solve real-world problems. In subjects such as fine arts, history, and science, we believe our students will learn more from doing rather than just researching those topics.

Example:
Rather than memorizing formulas and equations -
You are an entrepreneur. Learning the ins and outs of owning a business.
On Exhibition Day, you get to present your business, explain your marketing tactics, and provide insight into your profit and loss margins.
Character
Building
Students will develop character and grit to find their distinct calling to change the world.

Example:
Rather than traditional school putting your child in a mold -
Our Students will lead by doing, such as Leading a conflict resolution discussion or leading fellow students to accomplish a goal.
Our Promise to
your Child:
Learn to be curious, independent,
lifelong learner
Understand the importance of strong character.
Treasure economic, political, & religious freedom.
Become a curious, independent, lifelong learner
Cherish the arts, wonders of the physical world and the mysteries of life on Earth
